We’ve Done It Again: 6 Silver Medals at the 2025 Golden Bean Awards
We’re proud to share that The Wood Roaster has taken home six Silver Medals at this year’s Golden Bean Awards, the world’s largest coffee roasting competition. A huge congratulations to Andrew, our talented head roaster, whose passion and dedication brought home these incredible results.
With over 300 roasters from across Australasia entering up to six coffees per category, competition is fierce. Yet, year after year, The Wood Roaster continues to hold its own in the biggest and most competitive categories: Milk and Espresso.
In 2025, we kept it focused with a smaller number of entries and walked away with a quarter of all silver medals awarded in Milk and Espresso. Yep, 25% of the Silver Medals in these categories went to us, and every coffee we entered in these two categories won a silver medal.
So, what does a medal at Golden Bean actually mean?
Think of the Golden Bean Awards as the Oscars of coffee roasting. It’s a blind tasting judged by industry professionals across four criteria: sweetness, acidity, body, and overall taste balance. Coffees are brewed to strict standards and scored independently, with only the best earning a place on the podium.
Unlike many other competitions, this one is open to any roaster, from boutique specialty shops to large-scale commercial operators, so a win here is truly earned.

Espresso Category
Lex Blend: A bold, high-acidity blend designed for milk and alt milks, with complex floral notes and full-bodied flavour.

Milk Category

White Bag: A contract roast we crafted for a client and a perfect example of how we bring excellence to every roast, even behind the scenes.
